Trinity
Sarphatistraat 87
This coffee shop is way out of the city center, making it a “locals only” spot. There’s a big bar with a great selection, much, much cheaper than the center. Also a few pool tables, a big screen TV, and a separate smoking room.
The staff are really friendly and the locals are constantly intrigued as to how tourists find the place. Not as packed as it used to be but it’s more relaxed than many other places.

Popular but we can't figure why. The
seats are hard and uncomfortable, the weed is sold
in glassine bags, which is unique, but not acceptable,
and the staff are not particularly friendly or helpful. maybe we missed something? I doubt it!

This coffeeshop is expanding rapidly to
be one of the larger coffeeshops in the city. Currently
they have a nice selection of some of the most popular
buds in Amsterdam. We hope they don't get to big!
A
NICE PLACE, and although a little hard to find, it's well worth the effort.

Grasshopper
Oudebrugsteeg
16
Is the most obvious Coffeeshop in front of Central
Station; gets a lot of unknowing vulnerable tourists.
Very big, three-leveled Coffeeshop with full bar. Low
lighting and interesting stuff to look at can't make
up for the high drink prices and substandard buds. A
major blight on the coffeeshop scene! Keep Walking!

Grasshopper
Nieuwezijds

The original Grasshopper and is not much better than
its new huge branch previously mentioned. Keep Walking!

The most notable thing about the Green House are the
many awards they have won over the last three years,
all of which are proudly displayed near the entrance.
This shop has a cozy decor and a cannabis-knowledgable
clientele that expects the best and gets it here. There
are pool tournaments played on the two tables upstairs.
Full bar, as well as juice and sodas. The staff is friendly, helpful
and well informed.

This new version of the original Green
House is smaller and closer to the city center. Namaste
is a greeting in India. It doesn't really translate well
but it means have a healthy, happy, spiritual day.The
mosaics inside are interesting and well done.

Greenhouse

Oudezijds Voorburgwal 191 ( just
off the corner of Damstraat)
This is the third edition of the Greenhouse in Amsterdam.
This one is very creatively and artistically decorated.
A real site to see. They have similar varieties of
buds in all their shops: a steady variety of really
nice but generally high-priced buds. No matter the
price you pay though, you'll be happy with the quality
taste and buzz. Although prices are still higher than
the locals want to pay so mostly a tourist favorite

Warmoesstraat 53
Other local residents, besides
ourselves, have had equally bad and expensive experiences here. Our last visit was a bit better ...maybe the space cake we tried had the desired effect? We found it ok but not very friendly by any measure ...anyhow try it for yourself and make your own judgment. We say ...there ar better things down the road. Keep Walking!

Centrally located, the Coffeeshop Anytime is easy
to find. Located just off of the Spuistraat, towards
Central Station, behind the Palace at the Dam. "No time is a better name". Keep Walking!

(Formerly:
Lucky Mothers)
Keizersgracht
665
The name still confuses us ..especially after an incoherent explanation by the bar girl. She must have been sampling the wares ...Close to Rembrandtplein. Here you will find a downstairs
area. Marble tables and quartz crystals create a classic hippy
atmosphere. Lucky Mothers has a vaporizer and an assortment
of Graffix bongs to borrow, as well as a chill-out
cellar, a room designed to feel like the inside of
a genie bottle. a nice place and nice people to serve
you! The HempBurger was strange and quite tasteless but ...the menu has some other good choices to much on. Worth a look!

This shop is located a three-minute
walk west of Dam Square, on a narrow lane near the
Singel canal on the edge of the Jordaan. Good music and large picture window
overlooking the sidewalk. They provide special Nederhashes
and a some imported hashish. "The Coffee is now very good "...if you can find a seat, "smoke
out" with the stoner owners!
ALWAYS GREAT SMOKE HERE ....ALWAYS! Nice guys also!

We
can't make our mind up with this place ..sometimes just ok ...sometimes
the staff are really rude ..details...
Founded
in 1982, this shop is close to Waterlooplein and
Nieuwmarkt. It has two fairly small levels. The top level
has some comfortable chairs. if you can find a seat. and the coffeeshop. The cannabis
menu truly encompasses the world. There are more sorts
of imported grass than you'll usually see in other
places and a wide variety of hashish, They
specialize in black hash and Moroccan. There is also
an excellent variety of bio-weeds. Blue Bird won the
Hashish Cup in 1995 with their Nepali Temple Balls.
You
can't smoke on the patio outside and they are very rude
telling you about it! Terrible coffee last time ...when I complained the coffee was cold and weak I was told "not to drink it" ...after finally getting a seat we found the seats were sticky ..when we asked for a wet rag to clean it up ...we got a role of the eyes and ...no towel.
Our best advice is ..if you must ...buy your
choice of gear ..and then go have a lot more fun in the
park! It's primarily the rudeness that compels us to say ..Keep Walking!

Nice Coffeeshop, brightest place near
the Dam, but seats fill up quickly! Recently. their
bud selection has really picked up and their varieties
are very nice quality. They also sell seeds. Highly rated by some but left us flat.

GEZELLIG
This
Coffeeshop is on a side street off Leidsestraat just
past Koningsplein, right across from Albert Heijn down the street a bit.
The only "OUT" gay coffeeshop in Amsterdam, It always has a really good mix of gay/straight, locals and tourists. It's very small (approx 25 seats). Usually plays dance/techno sounds, the grass here is really good, especially the Superskunk
It's a fairly quiet simple place with some interesting,
not seen before selections, plus some common buds.
It's a nice place to stop for tea or a coffee. The perfect pink joint can be found in this bright, modern, friendly, great place!

This small, cozy, shop is located near Central Station. The
shop serves all the standard munches, sodas, juice, coffee,
and tea. A wide assortment of VERY GOOD cannabis and hashish is
available and at decent prices. Many locals frequent the place and are usually an older crowd. I love the bright halogen light on the second
floor's cannabis bar, which gives you an excellent light
to examine the weed. A comfortable place to relax if not busy. A recent guest said "Wow I can't say enough good things about this "under dog" coffeeshop.

Sensi's
Museum Coffeeshop
Oude

Right around the corner
from the Sensi Museum. Not particularly spectacular,
but a good place to stop for a smoke after seeing the
Museum. They only sell seeds so bring your own weed
and hash.

Bulldog (lots of them in the area... Bulldog shops that is")
13-17 Leidseplein - Korte Leidsedwarsstraat
45 - 132 Oudezijds Voorburgwal ...
The
original Bulldog Coffeeshop is one of the oldest in Amsterdam,
, Mostly a tourist rip off ...although admittedly a classic one. They
have a pretty poor selection here, but plenty of outdoor
seats. Watch out
for the main floor Bulldog, they'll rip you off at every
turn as prices are over the top!! The downstairs Coffeeshop on the right
side of the building is better but not by much. Several "branch
offices" have been opened at Korte Leidsedwarsstraat
45 and at several locations at 132 Oudezijds Voorburgwal and a couple more on the same street. Keep Walking!

The Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum

|
Since the opening in 1985 of the Hash Marihuana Hemp Museum in Amsterdam, almost a million interested people have visited this permanent exhibition. Each year, some 95,000 visitors from all parts of the world come to this exceptional centre of culture and knowledge, located at 148 Oudezijds Achterburgwal in the heart of the Red-Light District. As its name suggests, the Museum is dedicated to the cannabis plant and its many uses. The Hash Marihuana Hemp Museum is unique in the world, and offers a true voyage of discovery - one that fits perfectly with any visit to Amsterdam.
The scent of genuine cannabis plants welcomes the visitor when entering the Museum. Inside, all aspects of hemp, cannabis and hashish are explained in detail using a variety of media, including short films and photo collections. The Museum houses a large collection of traditional smoking devices from all over the world. There is also an extensive library of books, photos, posters, and magazines concerned with the culture of cannabis, which range from the 19th Century to the Jazz era and on to contemporary pop culture.
|
The Hash Marihuana Hemp Museum offers visitors extensive documentation and information about the historical and modern uses of the cannabis plant, as well as its medicinal, religious and cultural applications, not to mention cannabis‘ enormous potential to benefit the environment, agriculture and industry in the future. The Museum shows how hemp has evolved to become one of humanity‘s most valuable renewable resources.
Although cannabis is considered controversial in many places of the world, the Hash Marihuana Hemp Museum aims to provide an objective picture of this remarkable plant. It is to be expected that scientists will discover many more uses for the cannabis plant. At the museum, visitors will be able to gain a deeper insight into all of this, because a visit will bring a wealth of information. In the Hash Marihuana Hemp Museum, the past, present and future of the cannabis plant are merging together.
